Welcome to Yoga For Cancer Care.

This is an additional course for yoga teachers, health professionals, and carers who want to safely and effectively support individuals living with cancer or recovering from treatment. It’s focus on the integration of yoga with evidence-based cancer care approaches.

Key Inclusions:

  • Understanding Cancer & Treatment Effects: An overview of common cancer treatments (surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, hormone therapy) and their physical, emotional, and psychological impacts.

  • Yoga for Symptom Management: How yoga can help ease fatigue, pain, neuropathy, sleep disturbances, anxiety, and depression (drawing on current research).

  • Adaptive Asana & Sequencing: Safe and accessible postures, restorative yoga practices, and modifications for different stages of treatment and recovery.

  • Breath work & Relaxation: Pranayama, yoga nidra, and guided relaxation techniques to support nervous system regulation, reduce stress, and improve quality of life.

  • Mindfulness & Meditation: Practices to cultivate resilience, emotional balance, and presence for patients and caregivers.

  • Trauma-Informed Teaching: Ethical guidelines and communication skills for holding safe, compassionate, and inclusive space.

  • Interdisciplinary Awareness: Understanding when to refer, collaborate, and integrate yoga alongside medical care.

  • Practicum & Reflection: Teaching practice, case study reviews, and reflective journaling to support learning.

Course Outcomes:
By the end of the training, students will be able to:

  • Safely design and deliver yoga classes or one-to-one sessions for people living with or recovering from cancer.

  • Adapt postures and practices for different needs and limitations.

  • Apply evidence-based knowledge to improve wellbeing, resilience, and recovery.

  • Create inclusive, compassionate, and trauma-informed environments for participants.
