Biomechanics and Continuum Workshop
Saturday 18th April
11am - 4pm
World Gym Burpengary Yoga Studio
In this workshop, we are going to look at the biomechanics of continuous movement. In simple terms, we are looking at how the body moves and how different parts of the body work together to create smooth, efficient movement. Most movement in life does not happen in isolated pieces. Walking, running, lifting, and even flowing through a yoga sequence all involve continuous movement where one action leads into the next.
What biomechanics is and why it matters for movement
How the body moves in different directions (planes of movement)
How joints allow movement to occur
How muscles create force to move the body
The body working as a connected system (kinetic chain)
How forces travel through the body during movement
The role of the nervous system in coordinating movement
Continuous movement patterns such as walking, running or flow sequences
How rhythm and breathing can support smoother movement
Movement variability and how it helps reduce injury risk.
